A Blog for Young Material Handling Professionals

Hello everyone, welcome to the MHEDA Edge Editor’s Blog. You are now reading the first blog written exclusively for young professionals in the material handling industry. Before I dive right into things, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and what I’m going to be doing here.

My name is Dan Vest, and as many of you know, I’m the editor of MHEDA Edge. At 24 years old, I—like most of you—qualify as a young professional. I graduated from The Ohio State University in 2007 (which explains my policy prohibiting comments from readers in Michigan), and I have been writing about the material handling industry for just over a year.

Right now the plan for this blog is to feature news as well as opinions, observations, occasional insights and often times questions. I plan on updating this thing about three times a week as I’m working on stories and talking to members, so be sure to check in often!

Now as I mentioned, I’ve been directly involved with this industry for a little over a year. That means there may be some areas in which my expertise is not quite up to par. That’s where you come in. If I say something ridiculous (and I will), let me know. If I’m ignoring an issue that deserves some attention, speak up. If you want to participate in the magazine or the blog, let me know. If you’re lonely and need someone to talk to, I’ll be here for that too.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is that as wildly talented as I am, it’s still going to take all of you participating to help this blog reach its full potential. So sit back, enjoy the blog, and if you’ve got anything to say, speak up!
